Tony Hawk injured at Disney skate jam

Skateboarding pioneer Tony Hawk headlined the Action Sports Weekend sponsored by Quiksilver at Downtown Disney's Main Plaza on Saturday afternoon.

Early in the demonstration, Hawk fell on a routine trick, injuring himself. After thanking the crowd of several hundred for coming, Hawk, who had to be helped into the nearby ESPN Zone, removed himself from the event.

An announcement at the end of the nearly hourlong skate jam seemed to indicate his injuries were not serious.

Hawk suffered a pelvic injury at the event which runs through Sunday. However, Hawk was only scheduled to perform at Downtown Disney on Saturday, according to his website, tonyhawk.com.
The skateboarder’s website posted this update on Sunday: “He’s going to be okay, but did suffer some sort of pelvic fracture. Still determining the extent of the injury.”

Hawk updated his more than 2 million followers on Twitter Sunday morning after undergoing CT scans.

"Pelvic vertical shear injury" & a hematoma in a pear tree is the semi-official diagnosis. All I know is: I can't lift my legs & it sucks,” Hawk tweeted.
